Background

Denovo is a digital product development company specializing in building robust software solutions for organizations operating in the circular economy. Over the years, the company had developed deep technical expertise and a strong reputation among clients in areas such as waste management, resource recovery, and sustainability-driven business models. However, its external presence had not kept pace with its evolution.

As the circular economy rapidly grows in importance across Europe and beyond, digital infrastructure is becoming a decisive enabler. Platforms, data systems, and intelligent software are required to connect material flows, optimize logistics, and make circular business models operational at scale. Denovo already played a key role in enabling these systems behind the scenes – but its brand did not yet reflect this strategic position.

To support Denovo’s next stage of growth, the company partnered with A1S Studio to redefine its positioning, sharpen its narrative, and develop a brand identity that clearly communicates its role as a technology partner for circular transformation.

Challenge

At the core of Denovo’s challenge was a gap between what the company actually does and how it appeared externally. While Denovo had built significant expertise in digitalizing circular economy businesses, its brand language and visual presence remained relatively generic within the broader software development landscape.

The goal was therefore twofold. First, we needed to strategically reposition Denovo from a general digital product agency toward a clearly defined role: a partner enabling circular businesses through technology. This required articulating a sharper mission, a clear set of messaging pillars, and a verbal identity that could confidently speak to industry leaders in sustainability, recycling, and resource management.

Second, the visual identity needed to evolve to match this ambition. The previous design language lacked distinctiveness and did not fully communicate the complexity, connectivity, and systems-thinking inherent to the circular economy. The challenge was to create a modern, differentiated visual system that expresses technology, systems, and transformation while remaining clear, professional, and credible for enterprise audiences.

Alongside the brand itself, Denovo required a cohesive framework that could scale across touchpoints—from website and presentations to thought leadership and campaign communication—ensuring consistency as the company grows within its focus sectors.

Solution

Our approach began with a strategic repositioning that places Denovo firmly at the intersection of circular economy and digital product development. The new narrative centers on the idea that circular transformation becomes real when systems connect – and that Denovo builds the digital infrastructure enabling these connections.

From this foundation, we developed a comprehensive brand framework covering positioning, messaging architecture, and a refined verbal identity. The language emphasizes clarity, systems thinking, and pragmatic innovation, reflecting Denovo’s role as a partner that turns complex sustainability ambitions into functioning digital products.

The visual identity was redesigned to express this systems-driven perspective. A new logo mark introduces a distinctive symbol that reflects connectivity, movement, and continuous cycles—key ideas within the circular economy. The typography integrates structured, block-like elements, subtly referencing modular digital systems and engineered precision.

To expand the expressive range of the brand, we introduced an extended color palette anchored by a deep technological base tone complemented by vibrant accent colors. This system allows the brand to remain credible and professional while also signaling innovation and energy.

A key visual component of the identity is a magnetic field-inspired graphic system, representing invisible forces that organize and connect elements within a larger system. This visual metaphor reflects Denovo’s role in building the digital frameworks that bring circular processes together. Used across layouts, illustrations, and digital interfaces, it creates motion, depth, and recognizability within the brand environment.

Together, the strategic positioning, verbal identity, and visual system form a cohesive brand platform that clearly communicates Denovo’s role: enabling circular economy businesses with robust digital technology and turning complex systems into practical, scalable solutions.

"The new positioning gave us a sharper edge in the market. We’re no longer perceived as just another tech partner, but as a specialist with a clear point of view—and that’s already influencing the type of projects we attract.”
